This fourth lecture is roughly chronological in the series. I attended the Rhode Island School of Design from 1985 to 1987 (MFA). The basis for much of what happens at RISD is the study of semiotics. The facilities are excellent with a computer lab, photography space for design students, and dedicated space for many of the upper division graphic design students. The faculty is made up of professors from around the world. The tuition and board, however, is about $26,000 per year. Providence is a lovely town on the eastern seaboard located at the head of Narragansett Bay.
